Thank you for visiting our website. Here you will find plenty of information about Awahou School. We are very proud of our awesome school and the achievements our students make. Awahou School boasts small classroom numbers in a spacious, well resourced, family focused environment. We have an excellent adult to student ratio, much the same as a private school.

Awahou School is a fantastic rural school located in the very scenic Pohangina Valley – 15kms north of Ashhurst and 25 minutes drive from Palmerston North and/or Feilding.

Awahou School is a rural lifestyle, co-educational, U1, Decile 7, 3 teacher-staffed full primary school. Awahou School is set in 2 hectares of well-fenced and landscaped grounds/sports field. The school consists of lovely Modern Learning Environments, an administration block, a community hall, which is home to a wonderful play-group, a library, a swimming pool, a tennis/basketball/netball court and a large field. We also have a wide range of technology and digital devices available to the students.

The school has a very supportive parent community and is involved in the wider Pohangina Valley community. The Pohangina River divides the east and west sides of the valley. Children from both sides of the Pohangina River attend the school. Two bus routes serve the school, one to the North and one to the South.
